A HUMAN SANCTUARY · IDYLLWILD, CALIFORNIA

The Acorn Circle

A nature connection and intergenerational learning space

This is an offering for people who are listening to something inside themselves — a longing for healing, for slowness, for a deeper way of being met. It is for those who have come up against the edges of traditional talk therapy and are reaching for something more whole.

What we offer is not a method to follow. It is a relationship, paced by your stability and steered by deep listening. Together we work at a rhythm that builds resilience — weaving body, story, and spirit; bridging scientific understanding with ancestral and primal wisdom; midwifing the liminal spaces between what is ending and what wants to be born.

WHAT WE DO TOGETHER

Picking up the Dropped Threads

Resiliency Building Through Traditional Skills

Each drop-in day — Thursdays 10am–12pm — is woven around a theme drawn from the season, the land, and the wisdom of the circle. Children lead with curiosity. Adults remember alongside them.

  • Tracking and plant knowledge

  • Simple building, cordage, and hand crafts

  • Storytelling, song, and seasonal ceremony

  • Foraging, cooking over fire, and tending the land

  • Observing relationships in nature

  • Stillness, wonder, and reading the wild world

Through experiential learning and exploration, we build resiliency, find joy in presence, and belonging in our connection alongside one another.

This is not something to be taught.

It is something to be remembered.

THE LIVING CIRCLE

Wisdom flows in every direction

Five roles. One living circle. Children explore and discover. Youth step into mentorship. Elders share practical wisdom. Every generation gives and receives something they couldn't find alone.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Children thrive when they feel genuinely capable

We live in a time when many of the skills that once built children's confidence — making fire, reading the land, navigating real risk, contributing to a real community — have quietly disappeared from daily life. The result is children and adults who are more anxious, less grounded, and hungrier than ever for a sense of true belonging.

Resilience here isn't taught as a lesson — it grows naturally when a child lights a fire for the first time, when a teen teaches a younger child to track, when a grandparent shares something they thought the world had forgotten.

You are welcome here exactly as you are. This belonging, this homecoming, is not something to be taught. It is something to be remembered.

"Like a river carving beautifully through rock, we will find our way together."

Every wild heart is welcome here. 🌱

In a world that can feel fast, fragmented, and overwhelming, we believe healing happens in relationship — with each other, with the living Earth, and with what it has always meant to be human.

Small islands of coherence in a sea of chaos have the capacity to shift the entire system to a higher order. This community aims to be one of those islands.

Community is not supplemental to healing. It is the balm itself.
