A Human Sanctuary Therapeutic Offerings

A Human Sanctuary is a safe place for people who seek refuge, healing, and personal transformation. We are currently in the process of developing our quaint therapeutic farm, which will hold an array of healing offerings alongside animals and the natural environment.

Psychotherapy: About Us

Julie Anne Steiger, LCSW, SEP

My name is Julie Anne and I am the lead clinician at our homestead office located in Fred, TX. I believe that providing therapy and creating a therapeutic environment is nothing short of a work of art. As a trauma survivor myself, understanding and implementing various healing approaches was essential to my personal growth and development. The healing arts became my passion and purpose at a very young age and I am now honored to gift that learning with my clients. I have found that every human is incredibly unique and requires true curiosity, openness, and authentic compassion for healing and transformation to occur. Having worked with hundreds of clients, I have seen just how important it can be to find creative ways to integrate difficult and painful experiences in life.

As a Psychotherapist, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental atmosphere where clients can connect to their inner compass and work toward a more fulfilling and purposeful life. Embracing a collaborative, strengths-based perspective, I draw from various therapeutic approaches tailored to the values, needs, and goals of the individual.

In session, clients can expect to be met with utmost compassion and understanding. I do not see clients as a diagnosis, a set of symptoms, or a case to be “solved” but a growing, evolving, and intricately developing human who will only blossom when met in a warm and trusting atmosphere. Although we will explore and process areas of pain, sessions will be paced with concrete practices that immediately increase feelings of wellness, leaving clients not only with more capacity for daily life but also possessing new coping skills to carry with them for life. This emphasis on creating more stability and empowerment for the client provides the foundation needed for deep and lasting change.

I find the process of attuning to another person, to seek to understand their story and perspective in its entirety, to be deeply enriching. I know that to be held and seen in this type of relationship is crucial to our growth as humans. The relationship that we create in our sessions is vital. Much of the wounding we experience in life is relational and it can be particularly intimidating to be opening up to someone new. I appreciate the courage it takes to be seen and the willingness to share in vulnerability. I want to assure prospective clients that a safe container is created and prioritized in every session. Being with people as they share their most vulnerable moments, times of profound beauty and devastating loss is an honor that I hold so very delicately.

I see my own development as being inherently intertwined in all of my offerings. This genuine presence can be sensed and the recognition of a parallel process where both the healer and the individual seeking counsel are both growing effect removes the power differential that is often experienced in the traditional therapist-client relationship. After all, the client is the ultimate expert on themself.

As a multi-modal trauma specialist, I have dedicated my career to training in the most effective practices for healing and growth after trauma. These healing methods also apply to the pain, wounding, and upheaval that occurs naturally in life which can cause long lasting dysregulation. Along with psychoeducation, I regularly utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Practices, Expressive Arts, Nature Based Therapy, and Equine Therapy.

Over the past 10 years in clinical settings, I have worked with clients who are experiencing a wide array of challenges including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, survivors of abuse and neglect, grief and loss, relationship challenges, life transitions, career confusion, chronic stress and pain, medical trauma, as well as highly sensitive people. It is my belief that although we all encounter times where we are weighed down by these conditions, we also have the ability to change our story, overcome behaviors that no longer serve us, and strive to become our highest self. It is so important to find an appropriate match for our healing endeavors. If this sounds like a good fit, I so look forward to working together.
